WEDDING HIRE FAQs

Everything you need to know about having your wedding with Henry's.

Why do I need an appointment?

We are a very busy small shop, and in order to give you the full attention and service that you deserve, we  make sure we only have one wedding party at a time. While we may be able to slot drop-ins in, we cannot guarantee it.

How do I make an appointment?

Just give us a ring on 01295 251044 and we’ll make sure we get you in. We offer three to four slots every Saturday and weekday slots before 3 pm as well.

Who needs to come to the appointment?

Ideally, keep it as small as possible – the groom, the bride, and any other key members if necessary. We can then book you a second appointment to get the measurements of the rest of the party if necessary, or they can come in as and when they’re able to. Boys need to be booked in for an appointment three to four weeks in advance of the wedding for their measurements. Measurements take about fifteen minutes per person.

When should I book in?

If it at all possible, aim to book at least three months in advance. However, if you are getting married during late spring and summer, keep in mind that this is ‘Wedding Season’ and the outfit options may be diminished – the sooner you book, the more choice you have. (This primarily affects waistcoats and cravats.) Most book between three and six months ahead of time. We will always aim to accommodate anyone who needs to book very close to the wedding date, but please bear in mind that we may not be able to.

What do I do if my groomsmen or family live far away?

They can go into another menswear shop and ask to be measured – you want a professional, as they know exactly where to measure! Then the sizes can be sent to us, and we’ll make up a suit for them. However, it is absolutely necessary that they try it on as soon as possible so that if anything is off we can fix the fit.

What if it is going to be a destination wedding?

You may want to consider buying a suit – this might be easier and often fits the less formal destination wedding style. But, not to worry, we do offer long-term hires. Extended hire prices are available on request.

What will it cost on the day?

We require a booking fee of £20 per suit, so it is entirely dependent on the size of your wedding party. You may choose to pay the remainder on the day, or any time before pick up.

When do I pick up?

We have your suits ready two days prior to the wedding, and encourage everyone to pick up as soon as possible so that they can be tried on. (If we are able to have them ready earlier, we will always phone.) Please, whatever you do, do not leave it to the day of the wedding to check up on your suit and its fit – if there is anything amiss we need to know as soon as possible!

When do I return?

The Monday after the event, please. In the event of a Bank Holiday, it will be the following Tuesday.

What do I do if I lose/damage/etc something?

Firstly, don’t panic! Explain the issue when you drop off the suit and we will arrange an appropriate solution. We do reserve the right to charge for repair or replacement of any item return in a heavily soiled or damaged condition. Whenever possible, we repair, but if the damage is too great we may have to charge for a replacement.

If, as sometimes happens in England, you find yourself caught out in a heavy rain, the garments will recover best if you simply hang them and allow to dry naturally away from excessive heat.

Remember, you do not need to attempt to repress or clean any normally used item. Return it to us and we’ll take care of it.
